XPP-III is a general purpose processor architecture for the most demanding
signal processing tasks. Naturally, video processing is one of those
applications where XPP-III now replaces inflexible hardwired solutions or
FPGAs. The hybrid concept for processing of data flow tasks and sequential
control flow tasks enables also other application fields such as indicated
in the drawing.

Fast runtime reconfiguration of the XPP-array allows time multiplexing of
complex algorithms which cannot be mapped as a whole to a given array.
This makes area efficiency of XPP competitive to specialised ASIC
solutions.
